Fire Fighter Steals Severed Foot

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Uhh, St. Lucie County officials are investigating whether a firefighter took a man’s severed foot from the scene of a traffic accident. On September 19th, 2008, a crash on I-95 caused a man’s foot to be sheared off; the man survived and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

It’s the Fire District’s policy to take a severed body part with the patient to the hospital if there is any chance of reattachment, or the body part goes to the medical examiner’s office. But authorities said the foot was taken to the hospital days later, on September 24th.

Officials would not release the name of the firefighter under investigation, but said the firefighter trains cadaver dogs, which are used to locate and follow the scent of decomposing human flesh.

What the hell was this guy doing with a severed foot…

Eleven Year-Olds Veggie Stand Shut Down

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Since nothing hilarious or interesting is happening in Philadelphia right now, let’s take a little trip over to California to see wassup’.

The Mayor of California has shut down an eleven year-olds vegetable stand. Hah. Hah. Hah. Seriously? The child’s veggie stand was shut down because of lack of permits! What’s the difference between a lemonade stand and a veggie stand?

Call it a rite of passage: children by the roadside peddling their homemade goodies to adults who are more than eager to drop a few cents into a makeshift cashbox.

But Katie and Sabrina Lewis’ veggie stand, in the town of Clayton, Calif., where they sold homegrown watermelons for $1, has been shuttered by town officials who told the girls’ parents that their daughters’ venture violated local zoning ordinances.

“I think that they’re wrong,” dad Mike Lewis said of the town officials. “Kids should be able to be kids.”

Shouldn’t people be able to sell the food that they produce on their land? I don’t see any problem with a roadside veggie stand. Hell, I’d love to have one in my neighborhood. Their veggies would probably be better than the one’s I can find at my local grocery store.

Plus, who the hell called the mayor to complain about a vegetable stand? Come on…

But Clayton Mayor Gregory Manning said he first heard of the girls’ operation this past April, after two residents called to ask if it was legal. Two months later, a police officer was sent to the stand to tell the Lewises that the girls were violating zoning regulations that prohibit commercial activities in a residential area.

The stand also violates health regulations, he said, which state that food can’t be sold without a permit.

Geeze. If you feel like giving the City of Clayton gov. office a call, than do so at 1-(925)-673-7300.

Frickin’ Hot News

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I headed up to Philadelphia today for the Philadelphia Theatre Alliance auditions today and while I was there I saw this ad on the side of a SEPTA bus.

Not a bad slogan, ehh? I guess. But if Philly.com wants to take it to the next level (stage, point, etc.) may I suggest a change in the logo?

Also, I do apologize for the short break. I’ve been incredibly busy and just haven’t found the spare time to even get on the computer. The current theatre that I’m doing a show at seems to not want my Macbook to hook up their wireless internet signal. If you want to know more you can make your way over to omigod.net.

Man Wrestles Deer In Hair Salon

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Philly Edge’s Joe Student passed along a tale of some “breaking news” in Quakertown: A man wrestling with a deer.

Randy Goepfert, 36, had just finished paying for his haircut at Holiday Hair in Quakertown Plaza off Route 309 when he heard a loud thump. He turned around and saw that a buck with four to six inch antlers had rammed against the salon’s glass window. A second later the deer burst through the glass door within feet of two young children, sending employees and the handful of customers shrieking.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God!,’ ” said 9-year-old William Frei of Haycock, who was playing a hand-held video game in a waiting area when the deer rammed through the door within a yard of him. “Me and my mom jumped on our chairs.”

As the deer slid and stamped about, knocking shampoo and moose bottles from a display rack, Goepfert, a sturdily-built 5-foot-10, tackled the animal and gripped it in a headlock. He wrestled with the animal for about two minutes, but the deer eventually kicked him hard in the back and broke free.

Hey, instead of just saying, “Won’t someone think of the children,” Goepfert went out there and protected the children. By putting a deer in a headlock. “I didn’t get one during hunting season,” Goepfert said. “And then here’s one today.” Indeed, somebody give that man a medal!

(”OMIGOD!” located on the cute deer picture above in no way endorses omigod.net.)
